Good pic Keith, remember jack Pye well when growing up on estate, it was still called jack pye's by the old ones well after he had gone.
I think the girls name is Winifred Pye but she was younger than myself but someone on here will know for sure
Yes dougie you are right with name, her friends called her Winnie.
I grew up in Downall Green and if I remember right near to where this photograph was taken were Pig Sties, I believe Jack was the keeper of these, and across the road some time later was an engineering company, I cant remember its name but it was something like Millingfords.
you got the name right david .
David Winstanley: I think I may have spotted you on the North Ashton school photos, you were with two other lads on a field, the one in the middle trying to play the guitar ( Elvis) you had blonde hair in those days. Is that you David, around 1958.
Hi David yes it was Jack pye w.ho kept the pigs.opposite the shop was the co op,and the Butchers was next door.and Millingfords was at the back, the last time i saw you was in orrell .police .
The pigs were kept there when the new owner Reginald Jones bought the shop, I worked for him and fed the pigs with old potatoes, carrots, cabbage or anything that was going, I used collect all that from Lavins farm at Arch lane, when he slaughtered the pigs he would hang parts up in shop for people to buy.
john g i think it was with derek cale & robin hughes who only lived 2 doors from me .
Thanks Whups, nice hearing from you, hope your keeping well.
yes john & you .
Jack was my dads brother, winifred now lives in Garswood,i was speaking to her last weeked she is keeping well.
I worked at MILLINFORD ENGINEERING. I used to call at the shop every morning for my fags, Olive hi wife asked me to have a look for Jack & i found him dead in the kitchen, He still had his Heart tablets in his hand, He was slumped down by the sink,
