Looks like the two groups in the centre are squaring up for a fight.... Nothing changes..., except the background.
The difference is those poor blighters had no education and had to work hard for every penny they could. No benefits then - only the Workhouse I suppose. Actually they look like they're shaking hands, perhaps the Marquis of Queensbury rules were applied. The audience look interested anyway.

Wigan has changed much since 1861....for the better in condtions for folk but its lost its character completely. Shame.
I realised after I put it on that its already on from a few years ago. I have another really old one but I must check first to see if it's on, it probably is.
