Children enjoy the new playground outside the Spar supermarket in Hindley in 1968.

Note the child friendly safety surface (ie solid concrete) below the play equipment. I remember to this day being spun off the roundabout on the Clarington Grove Playground (where St Pats RL Ground now is) and landing on my shoulder - fortunately, it could easily have been my head !! I was about 7 at the time and do not remember an adult in sight. Happy (if dangerous) days

They all look fit, happy, carefree and enjoying themselves, even the jovial dogs are joining in the fun too.
Alas...those happy kids will all be in their sixties now
