View looking across Whitledge Green taken about Jan/Feb 1991. At that point the former school huts had been demolished but the school building was still standing. I think those detached houses on the former site where built around the mid 90s (94-95-ish). Used to spend many happy hours in the overgrown grass next to the green building dens and climbing the ruined wall, a little adventure playground for the local kids, sadly now a car park.
My mother, Alice Green, lived at #21 Whitledge Green 1930s-1950s ... My Dad played baseball catch with a buddy on the green in 1953 while courting my Mom. Been to visit the Green several times during the years.
