Gaskell's Cloggers. A friend is a descendant of them.

This shop was Reg Baxter's TV rental electrical shop by the 1960's, was Lancashire Bygones Antiques after that and is now a private house.

Is that the house where the Simpkins live or did live.

There are a heck of a lotof Simpkins in Upholland Ted. Which family are you thinking of and when.

Thinking back Eric, I don't think it was the name Simpkin of which you say is very popular in Upholland, I can't recall their name but they had a motor repair business and I'm sure it was at the rear of there as it looks familiar, though it will be around 50 years ago that I last spoke to them.

Hi, ALL....this is a copy of a postcard that was posted in 1903, and it is of my family Cloggers, the chap in the doorway is almost certainly RICHARD GASKELL who is my 3 x great grandads nephew, my 3 x great grandad was also a clogger ( THOMAS GASKELL 1793-1851, and upto now the last person I found at this address (12 Parliament Street) IN THE 1939 Register was JOSEPH GASKELL ASHCROFT, who was a shoe repairer.....all in all about a hundred years of clogging....if you have anything to add, please make contact....cheers...

Thomas was my great grandfather too. His daughter Margaret was my grandmother and her daughter Esther was my mother.
