What a superb architectural building it was. This photo of it after the bombing that's on the Album doesn't do it any justice at all.

Wigan had a lot of great looking buildings, and not many left.

Hi Cyril, thanks for the link. It was the bombed photo that inspired me to dig out these old photos. My Grt Grandfather George Myers was the vice President of the Church and worked tirelessly after the bombing (along with many others), to rebuild it ! Also totally agree about the loss of too beautiful buildings in Wigan.

I seem to remember the more recent church set back from the pavement with railings around.

Yes I think so. My memory is very dim. I only visited once as a teenager for my Aunt Jennys funeral in the 80s.
