The Furnace Chimney belonging to Wall Hey Pit on Haigh Road, Aspull.
The underground furnace below this chimney helped to circulate fresh air around the workings of the Pit.

DTease: That can't be the same cow that follows you around Aspull surely.

At the time this picture was taken John G, you couldn’t go very far in Aspull without meeting up with a cow. This looks like Lulu, I think she took a shine to me. One day she suddenly disappeared, l suppose she ended up as Birds Eye Beefburgers. Such a shame.

DTease: I'am not surprised she's ended up as beefburgers with all that screaming and shouting she used to do, don't you worry you'll have an udder one coming in to view on your next outing.

Fred Dibnah on the box demolished a lump like this in Blackpool or somewhere. Think his missus was holding the ladder ..

Xpat: I think I recall the program on TV, But our Fred had about three wives so I wonder which one held the ladder
