Just look at that lovely hanging lamp.

A lot of hard working men stood under it who wouldnt dream of breaking it no matter how much ale they had supped.

Just noticed two of the men stood near to the door have no caps on.

Hi Mick, Why should they have caps on, some people did go without it wasnt a crime.

The shorted man without a cap is my Great Grandfather, James Paxton who was the landlord. He went on to be landlord of The Eckersley Arms, Wigan. I have his oersted mug from the pub. He was an Alderman of Wigan and president of the Wigan Licensed Victualers.

James Paxton was also my Great Grandfather. My name is Deborah Hartwell, formerly Deborah Paxton. I have never seen this photograph before Christine and would love to see any others that you have. I have put a full family tree on Ancestry if you have access to the site.

Christine, Deborah. My name is David Paxton and James was also my Great Grandfather!
I have researched my family history and would be happy to share it with you both. dpaxton1@googlemail.com
