We used to call the pup Cale spent many happy hours having a sing along and also had our what we called picknick club also the space between Cale and houses was the y.m.c.a field were we played when we were kids and all churches had a service when it was walking day all churches walk together in June .

what surprises me is that the wording says Town Green Stubshaw Cross....As a born and bred stubshier I don`t think we can claim it as part of our village and Ann Rampling wouldn`t be so pleased about that either... according to the 1841 census Stubshaw Cross started on Woods Lane at Rams Head...

If the price of petrol keeps going up it will look like this again soon. Anybody wanna buy a horse

? Actually, this photo was taken quite recently as a publicity shot for the latest production of ‘The Railway Children’ the lamp posts were photo-shopped and then a sepia tint added.
If you look closely you can see a late model Range Rover in the distance, and the little boy has a Casio digital watch with cyan night illumination, also in the front room of the pub the large screen TV is clearly on.

Kenee, you've been eating those magic mushrooms again!!!
What is amazing is that if you were to take that shot today, apart from the traffic, everything is the same, even the windows are in the same place on the gable end of the house near the Caledonian.

He - He,
Bet you had a second look though!
Yes the odd shaped house opposite the Callie is still the same, as is most of the road. Hence my tongue in cheek remark.

When we were growing up as children there was a bowling green at the back which belong to the Cale .We were led to believe that Peter Kane world boxing champ fought a bout on the bowling green .Anymore information you need proceeding 1940 we will gladly help out in anyway .Also it is on Town Green .
