Dusty used to lodge with my Nana at 92 Nicol road for donkeys years, he also used to baby sit us as kids, I still have a birthday card that he sent me when i was about 10 years old and a postcard that he sent from the miners home. Was it in Blackpool or Southport? I can never remember.

The good old days eh Linda? I would go back tomorrow. Do you remember old Mrs Teasdale out of the Bailey row? I bet she would be 200 years old now lol.
Any idea why Toothill street was known as the Bailey row?

Comment by: linda bithell on 16th August 2008 at 23:36

no Karen,no idea it was called the Bailey road,i used to live next door to Mrs teasdale, she was a lovely old woman. She had long hair touching all the way to her waist, but she always had it up.I used to catch a glimpse of her going to the out side lav.LOL

lived at 68 nicol road, next door to the smiths, they think it was the kenyons, then the pillings, the yellow 3 wheeler in the photo belonged to harold hampson, and remember my dad, helping catch all the fish when they drained the flash,, many happy times.

Question to Bri McGuinn, is your old house the first one after the gap, or am I at the wrong bit? Great picture of your dad in front of the old flash, I used to watch him feeding little perch that used to come after his dog ends, when he was fishing for pike.

I lived at 76 Toothill St 1953-1960 last in the row. There was a gap(Where houses had been demolished)We would play among the old foundations. We took veg peelings to Mrs Boltons for a twist of sweets<which she fed to her pigs. Does anyone remember the top end of Toothill St?I remember our neighbours nickname as Freddy frog(Don't know why)??We played cricket in the backs.
