I am not sure what the building behind the lamp post was used for in 1900 but was certainly Wigan Printing Company by the 1950's.
I don't remember the building referred to as the Douglas Tavern being a pub but strangely remember a girl called Catherine Hayes living there at the time or before it was demolished, the road between the two is the top of Douglas Street.
The low building to the left might have been pulled down but I do seem to recall some low windows. There was a larger two or three story building in its place which was a common lodging house until the 1960's, similar to the Royal George in Scholes
