I would have loved to have walked through Wigan at the time this photo was taken. The shops all look really interesting.

looks like wallgate to me not standishgate

It is looking down Standishgate. To the right is where
Debenhams entrance used to be and in the centre you can
see the spire of the former St. Paul's church going towards
the infirmary.

Agreed, Kenee. I wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't pointed it out, but you're right....the background DOES appear to have been drawn in.

I agree, but i dont think the cameras were up to much in those days.
