Mum Doreen Hankin and Grandma Florence Critchley taken in Golborne St, Scholes, not long before the area was decimated by the council splitting up long standing communities and friends. Many peolple didn't get over having to move out and into flats, upside down houses where no one bothered with their neighbours. In the backs of the houses in Lorne St and a couple of motorcars, one looks like a fifties ford pop and the other an Austin A40 maybe. I played for many happy hours around the garages and pens at the top of Stanley St and Golborne St and the sandhole. Great days they were, mating with David Mason, Stephen Horrocks, Roy and Alan McCann, Joseph Mitcheson, Harold Mercer, Alan Strech, Malcolm Lloyd, Alan Cherry, Brian Cubby. All from Scholes. We played football, rugby and cricket tornaments. Remeber playing tick rugby in the srteets at night with a rolled up newspaper and the street lamps as floodlights. Kids today would laugh at such past times.

Hello John - I recognised the big sandhole, the little sandhole was near where I lived.
