The gateway to the right was to what was originally going to be Hindley station when the loop line was first built, im not sure if it was ever finished or even built but to my knowledge it was never used, only as a loading yard, my aunt lived at 144 which can be seen in shot but we as kids played there but I cant recall it ever being used !!!
the 606 i have never forgotten that bus.lots of buses used to come through ince but that one came around belle green lane
This bridge on the Ince/Hindley boundary was demolished in the late 1980s, and was the route of the Whelley loop railway line that left the main line at Springs Branch, went across here on Wigan Road, then continued past the rear of Morrisons towards Whelley and through the Haigh Hall plantations, before reaching the main line again at Standish. The GMT bus is a late 1982-1984 Northern Counties bodied Leyland Atlantean with a fleet number in the 8400-8700s.
Lovely photo. You can see the entrance of Trafford Road to the right behind the bus, by the large wall poster
