Looks like a Triumph - maybe too big to be a 350cc Triumph 21, so is it a 500cc Tiger 100 or 650cc Tiger 110?
That was taken in Snowdon Avenue.
In the background the tree storey tower block of flats are being developed and under construction in 1964. Could that be the Pemberton loop line embankment behind the bike?.....
Did you go to glasgow John? Lovely photo of a bygone world.
great photo notice the flats in the background are just being constructed ....
Sorry with the spelling mistake (three)
After looking at the photo again, I think it's a wall and not the Pemberton embankment-silly me.
no' you were right first time john thats the railway in the background.
I used to swap comics with Ray Fletcher. . . good lad.
It was a 350cc Triump 21.
The railway line at the back of the picture was the main express line from Manchester to Liverpool it joined the Liverpool line at Pemberton station.
when the railway was disused the material from the embankment was transported to fill the marsh and swamp area where the DW stadium and Robin Park development is now
Sent the bike pics to my son in law...he ' knows ' about bikes. He says it is 350 Triumph 21 with a non standard fairing...& says it must be long gone, the numberplate is not listed with the DVLA.
