That brings back many memories ,actually they were known as Wilde`s Houses .

These houses were on my paper round around 1970.I remember delivering papers in the pitch black as there was little in the way of street lighting in those days.

I remember these houses, are they still there? I also remember the lollypop woman who lived there, she had a little red and cream honda 50 and her husband used to play the drum in pemberton band if i recall correctly.

er harry gaskell has a son keith hes a drummer to lol well thinks he is lol hes my cousin , harry dead now n dont know about aunty joan , great times down there as a kid with r keith ,

Used to work with a lady in 1970s named Alice Gaskell she lived in Enfield st we worked at Heinz Kitt Green was she related to you?

no sorry my grandma was ethel lived at 164 i say no but cud be there was a shop that the owner was some relation to us

My great grandfather and mother lived in these cottages in the 1800s when they came from Ireland in the potato famine. They belonged to Wildes Mill which I think was later May Mill.

The first house was my Grandmas, & Grandads, Jimmy & Harriet Hulme. I spent so many happy years here, the second house was my Great Grandmas Alice jane Fearnley, and when she died My uncle Jim & aunt Margaret Dickinson bought it and lived there untill they were pulled down in the 1980s,and further along used to live, Mrs Taylor, Mrs Shaw, the Billingtons and The jacksons. fantastic Picture.

my nan lived there in the forties and i was born there in 1957but it was a really old cottage they was two together i think it was for the coach man and for the garderner the big house next door was called gullicks my auntie was a house keeper there during the 2nd world war its a pity there is no pictures of the cottages are the house they were from 16 are 17 hundreds and its a shame they knock them down tony from whelley

also my nan was called mary campbell she was irish her children were called may mcloughlin jim campbell winnie early francis roche agnes higham my mum and pat charnock

and also these cottages were back of my nans they were two together they had a front and back garden i really loved going there when i was a child i wish sombody had a photo of them but i have not

i used to live at number 3 wildes cottages. My dad was drummer in pem brass band and my mum Joan is still alive and kicking.i took a video there just before they were knocked down. Great memories from a bygone era.
