Where were they? they seem familiar.
DOWN FOUNDY LANE THE LARGE WALL AT THE SIDE IS TO GEOGRE JONES YARD
That brings back many memories ,actually they were known as Wilde`s Houses .
These houses were on my paper round around 1970.I remember delivering papers in the pitch black as there was little in the way of street lighting in those days.
I remember these houses, are they still there? I also remember the lollypop woman who lived there, she had a little red and cream honda 50 and her husband used to play the drum in pemberton band if i recall correctly.

My great grandfather and mother lived in these cottages in the 1800s when they came from Ireland in the potato famine. They belonged to Wildes Mill which I think was later May Mill.
The first house was my Grandmas, & Grandads, Jimmy & Harriet Hulme. I spent so many happy years here, the second house was my Great Grandmas Alice jane Fearnley, and when she died My uncle Jim & aunt Margaret Dickinson bought it and lived there untill they were pulled down in the 1980s,and further along used to live, Mrs Taylor, Mrs Shaw, the Billingtons and The jacksons. fantastic Picture.
my nan lived there in the forties and i was born there in 1957but it was a really old cottage they was two together i think it was for the coach man and for the garderner the big house next door was called gullicks my auntie was a house keeper there during the 2nd world war its a pity there is no pictures of the cottages are the house they were from 16 are 17 hundreds and its a shame they knock them down tony from whelley
