what a character, dr jon (john thornley) was pure class.
i can never remember him being stuck for a word to say and always had a witty remark for any banter that was aimed at him.
gentleman and brilliant driver to work with.
Worked quite a lot with John (or Doctor John) as he was known. His Uncle Lukes were legendary. To give an example of his dry wit. he owned some houses in Bolton which he rented out. He went to collect the rent one day and the tenant complained that there was condensation forming on the kitchen ceiling. John quickly replied that if the tenant could afford to make condensation, he was not paying enough rent.
Hi Colin, that sounds just about spot on for a john thornley reply, you made me laugh reading that he was such a great character.
Uncle Lukes he always had a pocket full, didnt he use to say watch out for the one with the blue spot on?
