The steam engine my father used to look after. It was in No2 mill at Eckersleys and had the largest flywheel in the country. It was 30ft diameter weighing 100 tons and drove 32 no 2"ropes. It had a 6ft stroke and was 1600hp.

Atlas mill no'6 in Bolton, and Brooklands mill in Leigh had 32ft diameter flywheel, unbelievable size.
