Not what you would expect, I think, for the average shot of Hindley Iron Bridge. Mostly, folk would go for a landscape with some nice bit of early or late sunlight beaming in and perhaps the steam from an engine billowing into the bridge as a focal point rather than a close up of the angles and beams and rivetting.
Perhaps this betrays a deeper interest.

Brings back a few memories. Used to stand on the bridge when a train went under and we were engulfed in smoke. I can smell it now.
Just to the side of the bridge at the Ince end is where the gypsies used to camp and on the Hindley side is where we used to gather hay after harvesting ,pile it high and then jump off the ramp onto it.

MY Uncle Jimmy was the signalman in the box to the left of the bridge (Hindley no 2) spent many Happy hours in that box with him.

gerymyb you must have been there when i was coz those are my exact memories ha ha the hay !!
