The Victory-kidder letter press in 1965 at the Wigan Observer Rowbottom Square works. The machine built in 1869 for the Liverpool Daily Post until printing it's last paper in 1884. That same year, the founder of the Wigan Observer Thomas Wall bought the press second hand for £1,000 and it spearheaded production until printing its last broadsheet copy on the 21st January 1966.
