I loved going there with my older brother to collect his wages on a Friday afternoon and being bought a cup of tea and a cake in the canteen.
Ron. I suppose these would be the sheds just prior to the railway station, in Ince Green Lane, near to the Manley Hotel. L.N.E.R. Locomotives.
Lower Ince shed closed 1952?.used to watch the engines from Britannia bridge school yard when I was at school there.
My apologies; I just assumed this was Springs Branch where my brother worked,
Easily done Irene. I lived nearly on top of Springs Branch up to nearly sixteen. Henry Street. Smell of the locomotives always drifting through my back bedroom window. Never did me any harm.
Albert .s.i worked at springs branch from 1956 until closure then moved to wall gate, retired 2006.are you related to Kevin Sanctus.
No Bernard. Went to school at the same time as Kevin. I think I was a little bit older than Kevin. Kevin is on two school photographs Spring View School, 1947.
Bernard Lowe, I wonder if you knew my brother at Springs Branch? His name was Colin Griffiths.
Irene Roberts.I worked with Colin, remember him well.
Bernard. Are you related to Kevin Sanctus?. Is Kevin Still about?.
Albert s.no relation.kevin Santus died 20/25 years ago.
This was taken where the former Kwik Save store was built after the shunting yard finished.
Thank you for the information Bernard. May Kevin rest in perpetual happiness, and peace.
Great to see these photos - and Albert S., Kevin Santus was my uncle, and he's been gone a lot longer - September 1979, age 44. His brother Albert Santus - who worked as a fireman on the Black Fives in the late 50s, so I believe - is still alive, living in Hindley Green.
