HERE IS A PHOTO OF MY SERVIETTE. I ALSO HAVE A GOLD MEDAL PRESENTED TO ONE OF THE RESCUERS. IT'S ON THE SITE UNDER WORK. MAYPOLE PIT DISASTER. AUG 18th 1908

A worthy reminder, with violets, Ron, though I don't like the look of that yellow bevel of the window mat - it could be a sign of ageing. If so, you'd do well to have the serviette re-done beneath conservation board - that's what the museums use. Thanks.

It's a lovely way to remember the victims of the disaster. Growing up in Scholes I remember the plaque inside St Pat's Church and the floor tiles in the porch engraved with words of the Maypole Disaster
( now carpeted over). I was told once that one of the two men who escaped the explosion was a relative of my family. I don't know whether that's true or not. The surname was Doran I believe.
