In the 1940s/50s the Harvey’s bakery was in Manley Street, Lower Ince, when Harvey’s left, it became a milk distributing depot.

Was Lowthers who made Eccles cakes, part of Harveys?

Lowthers was the original bakery in Cale Lane and later taken over by Harvey's.

G.R, Harvey Street, and Manley Street formed the same corner, so it is six of one, and half a dozen of the other.

Worked at Harvey's when I left school in 1969 as a van lad. I was on round 14 to St Helens with Alan Pomfret as driver.

Served an electrical and mechanical apprenticeship here from 1968 to 1972 in the maintenance department. I seem to remember that one of our jobs was to clean out the filters in the top of the flour silos.
