Are these three photographs taken from the Lancashire booklet Barrie, or are they from some other source ?

These photos are from my own collection taken at the time as I worked on the project. More photographs of the M6 construction will be uploaded from my own album over the next few weeks.

Barrie, I asked elsewhere but you mustn't have seen it. Do you mind if I copy these photos and post them on the site for former McAlpine employees.

Broady, I'd be quite interested in looking at the site for former McAlpine employees if you could point me in the right direction. Unlike yourself, I only spent a relatively short time working for McAlpines, the summer of 1966 to be precise. I was working on a Bucyrus Erie drilling rig in the quarry at Codrington on the Hambrook to Tormarton section of the M4. I had no camera at the time, so consequently I have no photos. The hours were brutal on that job. 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. during the week. 6 till 12 on Saturday, 6 a.m. till 4 p.m. on Sunday. I've revisited the former site in recent years, but there's nothing to be seen apart from a few old Euclid dump truck tyres. It would be interesting to know if anyone remembers the place, but as I was only 18 at the time, and the youngest lad on the site by a fair margin, it hardly seems likely. And besides, most of the lads came from all over the country.

Regards. Ozy.

If you are on Facebook go to search for friends or similar and type in "Remember Sir Alfred McAlpine and Sons Ltd" Hopefully that will take you to the site. Cheers.

Broady, I don't mind if the M6 construction photos posted by me are uploaded to facebook so long that I am credited with being the photographer. The original negatives are still with me. Look out for more photographs over the next few days.

Is that OK Barrie?

"The caption on this photo says it was taken at Gathurst Fold on 22/3/1962 by a Barrie Old who worked for McAlpine at that time. He worked for McAlpine from 1961 until 1965 as a Junior Engineer and also in the Soils Lab where his boss was Howard Stevens"

Hi Broady, Found your original query about Facebook, and news about Howard. on one of the other photo's. Your comment is OK by me.
A few years back whilst working in North Wales, I heard an a interview with Howard that was broadcast on BBC Wales about his life with McAlpines just before retired.
