Ezekiel ( Zeke ) Pennington, founder, ( in 1927 ) of Pennington Haulage stood on the right, next to the wagon, with his son Richard on the far left and nephew Bert in the centre holding the dog. Date of photograph unknown but probably mid to late 40's. Make of wagon uncertain, but possibly Thornycroft or even Vulcan. Photograph courtesy of David Pennington.

Could be Vulcan or Thorneycroft,I don't remember the radiator cap on a Thorney, Rihard Rylance and Sons ran one in Spring St and Reg McCloud ran a Vulcan cattle truck to Wigan market. Vulcan were made in Churchtown Southport by Brockhouse

That's an old lorrie, I would say it's Seddon or maybe Atkinson, I'll go with Atki.
Another good photo Eddie.

Classic Vulcan shape of the era around the radiator cap. Large letter V and the word VULCAN adorned the centre of the radiator grille.

Had many a happy hour with Richard in the 40's when it snowed riding his sledge down the skitters hill, not there anymore.
