I love the Nooky Brown can on his desk. No wonder it closed. Ha, ha, ha.
Hi Kathryn. I worked at the Ince branch for a short time when John Cross was the manager there. In fact I worked at all the Wigan area branches and finished off at Farnworth near Bolton. They were good days in the bank and we had lots of fun. Nowadays there's too much emphasis on selling and reaching targets.
Do you have any more photos of the good old days at the TSB Kathryn?
That was the last day and we worked till late, no customers but I'd never noticed the Newcastle Brown till today. Don't remember the guys name. He was having a fag as well, :-)
Not a desktop pc nor laptop in sight. And the only phone was probably attached to the wall.
Is that the Margaret Wall married to Kevin?
No Bernard. Kevin was my cousin and he was married to Maureen. Sadly he died four or five years ago.
Was this bank where the Chinese chippy is opposite the fox tavern?
I worked with John Cross in King St Wigan 1955/57.
Sadly he died too young a few years ago.
It wasn't where Wing wah's is now, it was where the Chinese that closed was that was formerly an Indian Restaurant in the 80s.
I worked at the TSB in the 60's at Ince with Don Halliwell but also knew John Cross . Margaret (Wall ) I remember you well we had some great nights out and lots of laughs.
Iwas at ince on the day it closed too. Lots of happy memories.
I remember working at Ince in the late 60's. The manager at that time was Don Halliwell. The lady in the shop next door (a haberdashery?)always brought in a saucer apple pie on Wednesday mornings to help our coffee break. On a quiet Friday I dashed off an application to Plymouth TSB and I was lucky to be offered a job in the South West.
