Obviously taken before Cliff Peters took to the field as a goal kicker. None of the players are sat on the crossbar......the safest place to be when he was kicking goals. That was a quote by the "Big Man" by the way, the late Kev Ashton, great wit, great player and sadly missed mate.

I remember Dell Pike from he Grammar School, didn't he go off to join the Met Police ? He was a comatriot of Dave Parkinson, Jimmy Atherton, Chic Hickman and co wasn't he? About two years older than me.

Dave C.: Yes, I think he did. I knew his brothers, Graham and the late Malcom; they were twins. Great lads, great times. I think Deli joined the C.I.D...If I remember rightly...
