yes your'e right fred i think that is my father Gerry, will have to ask my mother to confirm, but it certainly looks like him.

By Jove! Just wandering through these photos for the purpose of doing a presentation on the subject of mining in Lancashire and came across Benny Bennison. Clean forgot he existed, but he was a member of our "gang" and a bit of a comedian in our schooldays. I also was a trainee, but at Howe Bridge in 1951 and worked in the Leigh/Tyldesley area but born and bred in Wigan.
I have two bookings for the presentation. I think the people here have got a curiosity for being "educated" in the methods of "spending a lazy day" in the 2-3 ft seams of the Wigan Coalfield.
Been in Oz now for the past 50yrs.
