Photo from Lancashire Evening Post shows my father being presented with a barometer on his retirement from Wigan & Bolton Co-operative Society. He was manager at the Kitt Green Branch for Twenty five years. The shop at the juction of Bell Lane/Lathom Lane has been converted into a House

I remember him well, He had a Black Triumph Mayflower,
and us kids would look at it in wonder.
If 2 cars a day came down Bell Lane - it was a busy day.
Everyone else came with a horse and cart.
