Takes me back somewhat this photo Derek, Fred and self finished up real good buddies, he is a couple of years older than me, (i received my indentures a couple of years later whilst in the toolroom at Kitt Green) at the time we were into 'trad jazz' and i spent many hours at his house in pem' with another of his mates Dave Walsh - A big strong handsome lad was Fred (i think we all envied him 'in a friendly sort of way) and he would always find something to use as weights that he could use for 'pumping iron' - was pretty good at Elvis impressions too, and was extremely popular with the girls (ladies) one of his favourite 'tricks' would be to put on an American accent and say with a 'drawl' something like 'Lady while your asleep i am flying planes over Germany) very believable he was too, last i heard he emigrated to Canada where i am sure he would have been a success at whatever he turned his hand to. Incidentally Fed's brother used to the
craft shop in the Wiend. p.s. Brian Acton (spotted a couple of your comments) hope you are keeping ok too.
