Picture by Colin Pearce who worked at the works mixing the powders. He used to smell of it when he came home as I remember as a small child in the 1960's.I think the popular trees are still there in a line.......!

My Dad Colin probably did know your father Mr Winnard but I cannot confirm that now sadly.

I used to visit Appley Bridge with my grandma as a child. Te smell from the lino works with the glue works was incredible (bad).

My father worked at the brickworks and Thomas Witter's lino works at appley bridge ,and at heapey works chorley

My father Jim Donkin worked at the Heapey works, in the lab I think as an Oil and Colour Chemist.
We lived in Brinscall and he went to work by train to Heapey station. At holiday times he went to Appley Bridge to cover staff absence there.
As a coincidence my mother’s maiden name was Abram, her father Jack Abram came from Wheelton and previosly lived in Leyland.
