Is that the top of Trencherfield Mill peeping over the wall?
That's what I thought Dave. Anyone got any info about the Civil defence Corps in Wigan?
My grt Aunt Selina Ashurst was involved in the 50's and 60's - have got some photos of them setting up emergency kitchens etc
My Dad , Bill Denton, was Civil Defence Training Officer in the 60's He roped us in, Mum in emergency feeding, me and my now husband David Morris in First Aid. Volunteers got a bounty of £10 per year.
Hi Kathleen, I worked with your dad at the C.D.My Name is Ken Roocroft, my wife Betty,Mary Somers and her husband Stan Somers, we were with the C.D. for a few years enjoyed the mock accident scenes and the emergency cooking in a 45 gallon drum, had some good grub, even apple crumble at one time.
