Does anyone know the "UNKNOWN" teacher. I think she could be Mrs.Proal or Mrs.Ahearn. Come on Sue Atherton and Kath Roberts get your thinking caps on-Ha Ha.
Hi Lyndon I think you are right with Mrs.Proal it is the first name I thought of when I first saw her. My sister Elaine will confirm for me I'm sure. Will let you know.
Hi Lyndon, I asked our Elaine and she does remember this teacher but she is not Mrs.Proal and She'd never heard of Mrs. Ahearn. One name that she keeps on remembering is Mrs.Green though not certain at all that this is her. What she does remember is that when this lady was her teacher she broke her leg and used a small stool at the side of her desk to rest her leg on. Maybe someone can confirm if this is Mrs.Green or not.
Just found this site - how great to see the photos again. I was talking to Mrs Waterworth 2 days ago - she looks wonderful. Nice to see all the old faces & remember the good times we all had.
Hi Joyce how are you not seen you for ages, hows your Joan and your Mum, well I hope, was thinking of you when I saw school photo with your Billy on, me and our Kathleen used to come to you house your mum would give us malt bread and butter and your Billy used to let us play his records always Old Shep by Elvis or was Jim Reeves well who ever they were great days and this site is brilliant like being transported back in time to Downall Green take carexxx
The "unknown" teacher (front row far right) was my mum, Mrs Charlotte (Lottie) Taylor. She taught there for about 3 years in the early 60's. Mrs Ivy Wilson (far left) was her younger sister. My mum later taught at Earlestown District Junior School were the headmaster was Arthur Lowe, the brother of Harry Lowe in the photo. Ivy Wilson went on to teach at the little two teacher school in Garswood were Mrs Gwladys Aspinall was the Headmistress. When Mrs Aspinall retired, Mrs Wilson became Head. I was in the same group of engineering apprentices at Newton Tech as Mrs Howarth's son Graham in 1969/70. Small world!
Sorry - the last line of the above comment should be Mr Harry Howarth, not Mrs Howarth.
