Keith were you one of the 191?
Ron. My mother started there in 1924.
Ron, as John McEnroe would say ''You cannot be serious'' !!
This looked a very strict test for infants!!
How do you see that, Edna? I can't see any test to pass judgement on.
The Headmaster seems to have had high standards. Who knows how many children had dyslexia in those days. Probably got a clout around the ears if their reading ability was poor. Not forgetting the ones who worked part time in the mills, falling asleep at their desks. We have come a long way since those days, even if some of the young today grab calculators for the simplest sums! Mind you it was hard work then , but it seems even harder still for school children today with all the technology they have to come to terms with, ( to me anyway!)
