The long dresses of the two teachers seem a bit strange for 1953. Maybe the aged Headmistress in the centre (I presume that's what she is) imposed an outdated dress code on her staff. Some Heads in the 80s still insisted their female staff wore skirts....
Rev. Long I assure you it is 1953 or 1954 as I am in the photo and born in 1948.

Miss Roarke was my first class teacher when I stared school, possibly the year after this. I remember her teaching us maypole dancing on the lawn. I think Miss Simm was the headmistress while I was in the infant school. I clearly remember Miss Mary Cleaton and Miss Constance Cleaton and I think Mrs Tinsley was my other teacher.
