I don't know if this is in fact the Convent. Can anyone identify anyone that would confirm that it is?

Yes it is! These girls were in my year, in Lower as opposed to Parallel or Upper. Instant recognition of several but not all their names. Rose Foster first left on the back row is a good start. She was Games Captain 1960-61.

Middle row: first left Marie Gaskell; second right Christine Barnes next to third right Pat Sutcliffe who is next to her friend whose name escapes me- Jean Pimblott?? and then Janet Smalley.
Back row second right Frances Molyneux?
Can't see Edna Capper but it's her class.

Kath, Edna Capper was my cousin and this photo was in her mothers belongings after she died. I thought the second girl from the left on the middle row might be Edna.

I think you're right. I knew that she was your cousin and wondered if the photos had any connection with her.

Kath, the six photos I put on WW today all came from Edna's mothers belongings. Edna is also on the photo of St Williams Girls School. I still have a lot of photo's to sift through so I may upload some more later.

Jack I've seen Edna on the other photo now. I was so interested in this one that I only glanced at St Williams, knowing that I was long gone by then.
On this photo I identified Frances Molyneux on the back row but she could be Monaghan???
Those dresses were awful, blue with a detachable white collar which had to be sewn on every time it was taken off! The original sack tied up in the middle with a belt of the same material, fastened with two buttons!

It looks like it was taken on the steps on the netball court. The wall is still there. Beyond the wall is the back of the Royal Oak. Today the netball court is a car park.

This really should be refiled in the Notre Dame album.

They're on the 'New Court', through the passage in the middle of Worsley Terrace. We had to line up out there to have an individual mug shot taken and rather than saying 'smile' had to say 'sixpence'. I remember that it was very cold and when this photo was taken it had obviously been raining. Cardigans not allowed!
The whole school had a photograph taken on the 'Gym Court'.

I wondered if the 5th girl seated from the right is Josephine McCulley? The little girl looks very like my mum.
