Found in an attic in Ashton about 23 years ago. I am assuming this is the British School as I feel sure that the male member of staff is the inimitable Leonard K.Pilling. The background looks like the partition that existed between the two classrooms "downstairs." On circumstantial evidence only, I estimate that it would have been taken 1958-59. Hopefully someone will recognise themselves.

Having looked at other photos of that classroom at the British I find that the floor boards ran the other way. I may well have misidentified the school. Hopefully someone can identify the location.

Could it be that the children on this photo are fscing a different way, Stan, so the floorboards are just seen at a different angle?

I can't say for sure if it is the British School but it is not LK Pilling.

It is Our Ladys in Downall Green road. The teachers are Mr. Tennant and Miss Topping. I think that Miss Topping still lives on Wigan road near the parks.

Tony Tennant is a relation of mine. He's in his 80's but still going strong.
