Pendleburys burned down in July 1953, & they took over the Gas Showrooms. look on the wall, you'll see the name.
By the way, that pic is reversed, it needs flipping horizontally..;o)

what a lovely memory, I crowned our lady that year, and what a long way to walk round wigan. I still remember those days, and names of everone in my class too!!!

The lad behind Martin Geohegan with the sticky out ears is me I can still remember the old half crowns we got given on walking day and Mrs Mcardle singing Faith of Our Fathers on the Market Square she had a wonderful voice
