I have a dvd of St. Nat's Walking-Day circa 1963 and the gentleman in the middle of the photo appears in them. I think he was the Headmaster of St. Nat's School.

Mr Davenport was head master at Argyle as well

Is that Miss Molyneux with the little girls in white? She was head of the infant dept. at that time and Mr Hurst was head of junior school. I was at school in the infants dept. when my teacher would have been either Miss Dean or Miss Molyneux. The reception class teacher was Miss Hindley. Mr Woodward (near the banner) was also a teacher and connected with the football team and Boy's Brigade at St Nathaniel's.

Hi Wigwann
I think you are quite right about Miss Molyneau and do you remember having to go to the florist on the Saturday morning to pick up your flower basket?

Comment by: Wigwann on 3rd February 2018 at 15:47

Hello Brendell, I do remember collecting the flower baskets and later our posies and then bouquets. Mine was always stored under the sink (slopstone) at my grandma's house on Moss Lane after the Saturday 'Walking' to keep it fresh for Sunday. We always had Sermons then, after the Walk, having had the 'field treat' on the Saturday.

Great photo Ron, Sammy Devonport centre , and Allan Towers carrying the banner. Not sure of the location, could it be Moss Lane?

Comment by: Wigwann on 4th February 2018 at 21:33

Profuse apologies, I misnamed Mr Davenport.

The doorway in the background is quite imposing and there is a lot of writing on the fanlight, also one of the windows is wide open. As Howard might say, "I suspect it might be a pub." Anyone any ideas?
