I love this photo; it has a bit of everything, from the pretty young girl about to take part in the walk to the Mams watching in the backyard with folded arms and the little children joining in the excitement of the day, even if not taking part. I can remember having little black patent ankle-strap shoes like the little girl on the left during the late 1950s. A lovely photo.
Yes, I agree, Irene, it is lovely. Takes me right back to Walking Days in Ince, and crowds watching on Belle Green Lane, Manchester Road and Ince Green Lane.
Anyone know where in Pemberton, this photo could have been taken. The small house if it is a house is baffling me.
The only place i can think of is church street.
Happy days.
Its probably St Johns School, and yard, next to the church?
99 per cent certain the building was trinity methodist youth club. wish i had a pound for everytime i have gone through that door.
It looks like Queens street going past Trinity meths youth club.
