ya thats me irene i think the girl infront of me is christine keefe. where was this taken any idea.
I was hoping you'd see this, Christine. I would say, going off the fashions of both walkers and spectators that it was about 1963 or thereabouts.I know you are a bit younger than me and I would have been 10 in the summer of '63, coming up to 11 in the October. I would say you are about 7, maybe 8, on the photo. Marion Hoctor lent me some photos a few years ago, to copy, (including the ones with Lynn on), and I think this was among them.
Christine, I've just realised you asked WHERE it was taken, not WHEN. I don't know, but there seems to be a very short street behind the people who are watching the procession, and although YOU are walking towars the left of the photo, if you look at the lad just going out of the photo on the far right, carrying one of the guide-ropes, he is walking the other way, giving the impression that the procession is turning round back to were it had started. Do you recall a place where you did that?
irene i remember we walked down ince green lane turned round somewhere near manley st. back up the lane over rose bridge down darlington st. turned at the bottom and came back to st.williams.a long way for little legs.
Glad to hear from you, Christine, as we go away tomorrow to visit our daughter who lives on The Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. Back on the 21st. I am itching to answer your question to Mary re the location of Joe Hart's, but don't want to spoil it for Mary. If she doesn't reply to your question when we get back from Lewis, I will update. All the best 'til then. Irene.
PS: When you see Stornoway at the top of the weather-map on telly next week, that's where we will be!
