This is me on the right with my "cousin" Janet Lavin, the daughter of Teresa Lavin who later moved to Ashton. I think that she appears in another picture in the album hand in hand with Beatrice Lowe but I am not sure. It was always a great thrill to be involved and it must have cost parents an absolute fortune especially for the flowers. I remember that my Mum, Mildred Liptrot (featured in another picture with my younger sister) used to keep them in the big rotary washing machine in the wash-house to keep them cool for Trinity Sunday.1957?

The photo was taken just after we set off from the Mission Hall in Garswood by my maternal grandfather, James Lavin, across the road from his red brick house 313 Garswood Road almost next to our then house 311, Garswood Road opposite George Green's grocery shop. He was the father of David Green and was two doors away from the home of Shirley Lynam who also features on this website, standing next to my elder sister, Wendy, in a walking day photo.
