As you know, Gerry, these photos of Ince Green Lane mean such a lot to me. Actually, this view hasn't changed that much since my childhood. Thanks for posting them.

It has changed, it's was alot tidier then, the swinging 60s was great.

I just meant that the view of the church, houses and "Longneck" hasn't changed a lot, John. I was there on Thursday, and felt I could have walked to my childhood home behind the Presbytery wall. How I would love to go back and see The "Viredocks", (viaducts area), Little Amy's, Ernie's chippy, Eccleston's shop and the "Cworp", complete with "divi"!

Ernie's chippy was the best around at that time, they didn't need to sell all that rubbish junk food, kebabs etc.
The amount of junk food leaflets pushed through the letter box these days is unreal. Ince Green Lane is a lovely place but like most places has seen better days.

The photo will be later than 1960. The houses between the Bird 'ith Hand and Patricroft Road (Blinkhorn's Chippy) have been demolished, but can't see if the flats which now occupy the site are built. I would say its at least 1964

Is the male teacher in between the boys in uniform Mr Rose it looks like him I really liked him as a teacher although we had to learn to duck when he threw a board duster at any of the boys that were missbehaving in class .Those were the days.

Penny You are right that is Mr Rose, I understand he went to St Theresas in Wigan after St Williams Then I lost touch with him

Mr Rose became head at St Theresa's and sadly died a few years ago-he was an inspiration to all of us rugby players and set us on our way. I went out with him for the odd pint in later years-he loved his time at St Williams.
