The carnival was usually centred around the Recreation ground (Rec) behind St Catherines church.

If memory serves me well, the boy in the centre I believe is Norman Hunter and the girl on the extreme right is Eileen Ellis(as was!!!) With me in the class of of 1950 to 55. Teacher was Eddie Rudd who played soccer for Horwich RMI and whoise father was Eddie senior, church warden.

Sorry for the error above. The boy seated centre is (I think)Frank Edwards and I think the boy to the right is John Sherrington. With his twin brother David and elder sister Pauline they lived opposite the workshops for the blind on Darlington Street.
Hi,first girl on the left is Olga Bamber, last girl back row on the right is me Aileen Ellis (not Eileen) now Aileen Morris.
I think the May queen sat down was ? Summers.
