That is Ince Bar and the walkers are heading towards Hindley you can just see the White House pub on the right

This is a list of the shops on the left, the first I can recall. Barons butchers, and Jack Binks he finished up owning the shop of which he wes manager at the time of the census, Mortons was still going strong for quite a few years after that photo, there were 4 of them I think, in fact I used to take orders for the one on the photo, on the bikes with the big basket in front

The sign on Ascroft's Chemist's made me blink. The outfits seem right for the 1920s - but the sign, 'National Health Dispensary', seems anachronistic, as the NHS was only set up in 1948. However, there was a National Health Insurance Act of 1911, which presumably made some provision relating to medicines.

Just behind the walkers is Smithy Green, that is the start of Ince Bar, to the right is Belle Green Lane, just this side of the Walmesley, now Royces Gym, at the bottom of the picture, just in front and to the left out of shot is Pickup Street, the bar finished a bit lower down, just after the row of propeties which included the Royal.

I've just been to specsavers and had another look and you're right David it does say National Health Dispensary.
