Does anyone recall Miss Dunne's "Socials" on Wednesday nights in the Parochial Hall? It was a shilling entrance-fee and threepence for tea and biscuits.....happy, innocent days!

hello Josie, would that be the video that Gerry has mentioned, do you think? I have been trying to get hold of a video of Ince in the 50s or 60s for ages, and have only just discovered one exists. If anyone could lend me a copy or have a copy made which I would be happy to pay for, I would be VERY GRATEFUL. Do you know where I could order one?

I remember the 'Socials'. I remember that Miss Dunn was a good drawer to she once drew Suzie the swan on a blackboard in colured chalk it was on there for years

Thankyou so much, Gerry; I have left details on your e-mail.Gerry, Margaret and Josie.....although I went to Ince Central, I lived next door to St. Williams and went to all the "socials" with my friend when we were children, and to all the jumble sales with my Mam, in the schoolyard in dry weather and the Parochial Hall in wet. For some reason, I seem to remember Miss Dunne having a problem with her leg and having to wear a built-up shoe, which doesn't seem to be the case on the photo. Am I confusing her with another teacher?

yes Dennis, the past is a good place to be. Wouldn't it be good if we could all do a "Gary Sparrow" in Goodnight Sweetheart, and just go back for another glimpse of the Ince and Platt Bridge of our childhood? H ave left you a message on the Victoria Street pic.....does't Tom come up with some great photos?
