This is the bottom of Rectory Rd. with what was the Co-op on the right.

Hi, Kieth, what a brilliant photo, this must be the oldest walking day photo to date. This was one of the rectors that the school houses were called after, Sherlock, Melville, Williams, Hall. Dont think these names are used anymore.

Looking at the dress style of the female walkers and spectators I believe that this photo dates from after the First World War probably into the 1920's.
A show of legs was frowned upon in Victorian and Edwardian times. Still a great photo though.

What an absolutely fascinating picture. I have lived in North Ashton all my life ( Hawthorn ave , Poplar ave , and now Rectory road ) this is probably the earliest picture that i have seen of our area . How times and dress sense have changed
