My Grandad, Harry Taylor third from left on front row. I've been told by my dad that the tall gentleman at the back wearing the hat was P.C. Wilson from New Springs / Haigh area, who was tasked with keeping the slag heap area that became 'Woochie Rook' clear of children, as the area at the time was still burning in some areas!

Feel sure the goalie is my cousin George Pugh. He was a physical instructor in the Territorial Army and also a Physio during the war helping to rehabilitate the wounded.
