I like this one very much, Mick. And the lily-pads come in nicely, don't they.
Phil I was trying to imagine what it could be, but so far I cant see anything except a big funny shaped fish
It looks like a sleeping hedgehog.
Are there any carp or chub under those lily-pads? I imagine Jack taking a moment somewhere like here to fill his pipe , topping up out of his fisherman’s waistcoat, a waistcoat he has had as long as the rod he holds in the crease of his arm . They don’t make ‘em like that anymore . Sorry Mick , just mind meandering. Thanks for the post .

It's a giant vole. Look to the right and you can see two nostrils at the bottom and one eye with an ear just behind it. It has been constipated for a while and has just had a massive poo, hence the red hot bum.:)
The white blossoms along the far-side path give further nice touches, Mick.
Mick, that is some ugly turtle.
That’s a sleeping hippo, surely !
