Is that the D.U.Ps new treasure chest on it’s way to Northern Ireland?

In the sixties, Standish did not have gridlocked traffic and any lorry passing through would have been a Leyland, ERF, Atkinson, Seddon or Foden.
David's picture is a real now and then image.

Maybe all the Leylands, ERFs, Atkinsons, Seddons and Fodens have broken down

"In the 60s Standish did not have gridlocked traffic"

Oh but it did. The A49 (like all A-roads) was far busier with goods traffic back then than it was today owing to the fact the motorway network had had still to be built.

It doesn’t look big enough DTease, probably a convoy of them needed to persuade the DUP to back Brexit.

This looks more like an extension of the M6 than road through Standish village.

On School Lane - The Beeches is to the left. Green Lane is off to the right, at the junction where the traffic lights are. St Wilfrid's, with Winter Hill beyond, visible in the distance.

Thank you for the info David.
Perhaps the Christian name of the
owner of the DAF lorry is Tom.

Small point - MikeW - the M6 past Standish opened in 1963, as far as Walsall. Heavy through traffic left the A49.
